A couple of the enemy's air bases are active again and MiG-21's have been spotted to the east. For this mission and with the air cover we have this should not be a factor for us.
This is another mission to deplete the enemy ground forces, this time in around Beirut.
There are large numbers of units in and around the area. Threats from the ground consist of SA-7, 8 and 9 SAMs as well as varied AAA. It is strongly advised that all aircraft stay above FL180 AGL for the duraction of this mission.

Despite the continued unlikely event of air threats arriving, flights of F-15C IAF will be on CAP with you.

Mission success will be awarded to AI flights for hitting an average of four targets /pilot. Partial success will be given hitting an average of three targets/pilot.

Uneventful ingress, slight delay due to F-15s landing as we were about to depart.
Arriving at target steerpoints at 20.000ft, #2 and #3 were cleared to engage any ground targets at steerpoint 5. At least 2 columns formed a V shaped on the FCR, that's what we decided to pound.
#1 went further NE to investigate 3 more columns.
We started with that V-shaped group, then turn NE to get a second pickle at one of the 3 columns, to finally reset on steerpoint 4 and do it again. We had different experiences with the Mk-20s, #2 managed to ripple 6 x 2, while #1 and #3 could not get anything off unless it was a max of ripple 2 or below 20.000ft.
Once Dakota and Bingo we climbed up to 30.000ft for fuel efficiency and headed home.
I pushed it a bit further, asking for an OHB with very little fuel left, but all went well and we landed safely, shortly after SERPENT4.

Took off and headed to SP 5 at FL200 to line us up with the targets line up. We set our bombs (Mk-20D) to ripple all 12 off with 700' spacing and BA of 2000'.
I got 7 bombs off on the first pass, the plane refusing to drop any more. Jules had a dry run on his first. My second pass released the remaining 5 bombs and Jules released his on his second pass.
We then set up a CAP around our SP5 at FL250 increasing to FL260 when other aircraft seen at our altitude. No threats were encountered.
Fuel was running short so we RTB'd with an overhead break. Jules flew in excellent formation and the OHB was top drawer stuff.
We were disappointed that the cluster bombs didn't do more damage.
Is the BA at barometric height or at AGL? That would possibly go towards explaining it.
We all got home today.
