Command wants more enemy airbases putting out of action. There are some high priority ones left that are protected by SA-5 and other local SAM/AAA/Manpad protection

Your specific mission is to attack and destroy the two runways at Koksan airbase. It has local SAM and AA defences as well as being covered by an active SA-5.

Fig. 1 - Package Flight Path and Threats.

Fig. 2 - Close up of OCA flight plan and Ground Threats.

SA-13 and SA-9 are known to be around the air base and Plasma 2 needs to suppress these to allow Hawkeye 3 to complete it's task relatively safely. Air threats could could from the north as well as Koksan itself and Incheon airstrip.

The package consists of three flights, totalling eight aircraft; details below.

Fig. 3 - Package 3297 OCA Details.

Mission Success Criteria
Package success will be awarded for the destruction of both runways with only one loss from air/radar SAM threats. A partial shall be awarded if one runway is destroyed, again with a max of one loss to air/radar SAM threats.

Good hunting.

Flight Role: OCA Strike

Hawkeye 31: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=0 KIA
Hawkeye 32: "Gecko" AA=0 AG=0 KIA

The aim was to launch 8xSDBs at a single section of each of the two runways.

Ingress was uneventful and we turned into the target and pulled up from KOE to FL120 and released the payload. All my weapons headed for the designated point but two missed. I had locked the target via TGP. All of Gekko's missed. He relied on GPS from the data cartridge which didn't work.

We egressed to low level again. It was suggested to me by Gekko that we should turn west when we saw AAAs on the RWR. I should have done that much earlier and climbed too. As it was, my late decision resulted in both us receiving SA-13 enemas that killed us both. My apologies to Gekko for this.

Uneventful flight for the Escort. It was decided in briefing that our role would be purely Escort and we would not have any SEAD role.

We split into 1 and 2 for CAP legs oriented to the NE and NW respectively. Some enemy aircraft were in the vicinity of our CAP area on our ingress but these were either intercepted by blues before we arrived or turned and ran for home.

Once Hawkeye called Dakota we tucked in behind (at altitude) and headed for home.

Nice and neat approach and OHB.
