Following the successes of recent flights and the maintaining of air superiority in the southrnmost regions the effort to push north continues.

The last mission not only confirmed the location of an SA-6 battalion but also that enemy MiG-23s are deploying in numbers from the nearby Mirim air base.

Fig. 1 - Mirim AB and it's Single Runway 08/26

The above image shows the primary target. It is your task to destroy it. your flight plan lines you up on an attack approach to runway 08.

It is important that the SA-6 threat is neutralized to allow Hawkeye a safer route in. Note that on your egress you must avoid an sa-19 group south of Mirim air base.

We already know that the air base is quick to respond to intruders so the escort must also ensure the safety of the OCA flight.

The flight plan shows your route to the target area.

Beast 1 is tasked with destroying the Straight Flush and any other ground defences. Hawkeye 1 shall be responsible for destroying the runway.

Your loadout is at flight leads discretion.

Mission Success Criteria
Package success will be the destruction of the runway and the Straight Flush. A maximum of one loss to the package is permitted.

Partial Success shall be awarded for the destruction of the runway. A maximum of two losses is permitted.

Good Hunting.

We had a low turn out tonight with only three of us available to perform the mission, Vosene unfortunately having a tech issue.

Flight Role - OCA Package

Hawkeye11: "Pegasus" AA=0 AG=2, RTB

Beast11: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=1, RTB
Beast12: "Noodle" AA=2 AG=0, RTB

MS

We took off and operated as a three ship flight with Pegasus in 10 mile trail but ready to support in an air fight if needed.

Noodle and I had multiple MiG-23 contacts and it was lucky that we had lots of friendly AI F-16's around or we wouldn't have made it home.

As it was we had a number of engagement, with Noodle bagging two MiGs and I damaged one.

The SA-6 Straight Flush did not show up on HAD and TACview later showed that it had already been destroyed.

Noodle and I kept air cover and I called Pegasus in for his successful attack from the east (opting for this route rather than going over the city - good call). The runway took a good number of direct hits.

He headed south and I ended up being target fixated and went too far north before realising that I needed to turn back, regroup and head for home.

RTB was uneventful save for a mild fuss when MiG-23s were approaching us as we approached home plate. I had to check on their friendly ID with AWACs before doing a 15° throttle idle spiral down to the approach to rwy 14L, where we all landed safely.

Lesson learned were;
1. Don't get target fixated.
2. Maintain SA and don't risk air collisions
3. Once the job is done, get out of Dodge.

A good result with just the three of us, but thank God for the friendly AI that was around us.
