We have done well in reducing the enemy's SAM capacity and fuel production. They have lost almost all of their fast jets but a significant threat remains at Seoul Airport. This must be supressed.

Your mission this evening is to render the two runways at Seoul (18/36 and 19/01) inoperable. The remnants for an SA-3 battalion remain at the site and this needs destroying prior to the OCA attack.

The mission flight plan below, shows your route, which shall take you east of the main area of current activity by enemy aircraft.

Fig. 2 - Focus on the Target Area

The weather is expected to be clear throughout the mission, but remember that it will be dark.

Mission Success shall be awarded for the successfully striking the runways and air base protection. The loss of any aircraft will result in a PS.

Very difficult mission from my perspective as I was in and out with CTDs and other PC problems.

On ingress, several enemy groups appeared. Mig29As, An-2s and Su-25s. We sorted on the Mig29As and ignored the rest.

Mango and Gecko managed to get their SDBs off before the engagement, with Mango taking a bit too long and ending up getting shot down at close range by a Mig29A.

We mostly kept the Mig29s turning away from us by long range slammer shots, but managed to shoot down a couple and damage some more.

It was enough to allow Warhawk to press home the attack, opening up Seoul for more attacking freedom.

The ingress in this night time mission, was good but laboured for us. We had 12 x BLU-105s on board as well as a centreline tanks and TGP. So we were a bit heavy. Dropping tanks at 7000lbs made a bit of difference.

Jackal 5 did a great job of clearing the target airbase of air defences, as well as helping protect us from air threats as the AI F-15s were off sight seeing and shooting down AN-2s!

Jackal had us hold while they dispatched some MiG-29As, after which we descended NOE to prosecute the attack. More scrambling MiG-29s were launched from Seoul (our target) and we had to turn off. Noodle hit one of them and Jackal flight engaged others.

We eventually re-prosecuted our attack with the odd SA-14 and SA-16 heading our way. Noodle was hit by an SA-14 but survived largely intact and continued his attack.

Both bomb runs were very successful and Seoul was heavily damaged.

We returned to base and landed safely.
