Posted - 23 Apr 2014 : 18:10:32 Sure, it was a short, simple, 4 ship training flight from Kangung to the FLOT where 2 Tank, 1 Towed Gun, and 1 HQ battalions are in an "X" formation through a town. The brief mentioned that our role was to use TGP and Mav. sights to locate and destroy the SA-13s, and AAAs that were present, so A-10s could be tasked with a follow-up "Tank-shreading" party.
We did a wheel from STP 2 to provide deconfliction, and allow time to sort the targets. Skal learned the lesson that you must fly, watch your altitude, and lastly, watch TV. A ZSU hiding in the Tank column messed up his jet and he did a great job getting it back to base.
This is good practice for selective AGM-65 deployment, not just your easy smoke-and-go mission. It provides training for using the AGM-65 cross-hairs to slew the TGP, giving the pilot a stand-off advantage through high magnification. In 4.33, it will work the other way around, like irl, with the TGP slewing the AGM-65. If there is interest, I can try to do a Fraps training film.

Posted - 21 Apr 2014 : 20:59:07 Jack, Skal, joined me in a TE I whipped up to practice doing DEAD using AGM-65s. Ironman showed up at first, but had a technical issue.
Good times |
