As dusk approaches, you have been tasked with destroying a high value asset in Gimpo to deny power to facilities in the city and neighbouring Seoul.

Your task is to destroy the Gimpo power plant, specifically the power plant and the two large transformers (first two in recon list).

You have a secondary target of the warehouse belonging to the nearby Incheon food processing plant.

All of these are "very high" value targets and shall be the responsibility of Cajun 1.

There are two supporting flights in the package, Viper 4 and Rumble 5, the latter being a two ship F-15C escort.

Viper 4 is a four ship AI/Escort flight, with the ground priority being the two HQ battalions and their SA-15 SAMs. However, it's overriding priority remains protecting Cajun 1.

The image below shows the route of the package, with the highlighted one being the strike flight.

This next image shows a close up of the target area, including the last known positions of the HQ battalions. Intel suggests these are currently static but could start moving, particularly if attacked.

Fig. 2 - Focus on the Target Area

While all enemy air bases with significant threats are out of action, there have been enemy aircraft spotted in the area.

The weather is clear for the duration of the mission with winds from the north west. It is expected to be dark by the time you reach your targets.

Mission Success shall be awarded for successfully destroying the three primary targets without any loss of aircraft. The loss of up to one aircraft from the strike flight is permitted for a PS.

Good hunting.

Flight Role: Strike

Cajun12: "Mango" AA=0 AG=2 RTB

MS

Take off was smooth as the sun started to sink below the horizon. 2 and 3 recovered very quickly and impressively into their cruise positions.

We climbed to FL260 and forty miles or so from the primary targets, we dropped into trail for the attack. Due to pop-up MiG23 threats, Rumble 5 ordered us to retrograde south, just as we were about to launch our ordnance. We aborted the attack and headed south. Once Rumble had dealt with the threat, we turned north and successfully destroyed the power plant and the two transformers (and a warehouse) on our first passes.

I went higher to act as BDA as 2 and 3 headed for the secondary target. 3 dropped his bomb to the target but switched to air-to-air before guiding the bomb in, so it missed. 2 was struggling with the heavily asymmetrical load (we were all carrying GBU-24/B LGBs) and came off dry on the first pass. I had to abandon the BDA as more MiG23s were launching from Gimpo AB as it had been repaired. While Rumble 5 kept them busy, 2 went in and destroyed the warehouse.

We regrouped and headed home for a straight in approach as it was dark by the time we got back.

I enjoyed this mission and the flight did a really good job, kept good SA and executed the plan well.

Flight Role: AI/DEAD/ESCORT
Viper41: Pegasus AA=0 AG=14 RTB
Viper42: Saddler AA=0 AG=16 RTB

MS

Pegasus took GBU-54s and Saddler SDBs.

Targets were HQ Battalions in the two threat circles.

Not long before AG weaponse release, Rumble5 called the Strike package off as Mig-23s had scrambled from Gimpo. We aborted our attack runs to be ready to support Rumble5.

Once Rumble5 called the strike back in, we resumed our targets, destroying a good part of the two HQ battalions including most if not all their anti-air threat.

We almost got a sniff of subsequent Mig23s scrambling from Gimpo, but Rumble5 was too effective. We did maintain good positioning to offer support.

RTB was very smooth following Cajun1 around to land on 36 in the dark.
