The 185th has worked well against serious opposition to reduce not only the number of air defence assets that the enemy has covering their offence, but also managed to reduce the enemy air assets at a ratio of 14 kills to 4 losses.
The next mission is to remove an SA-10 threat north of Ujin city. We believe it may be heading south along the coast road. Other similar assets have done the same, which has left us some room to work. Removing this asset will open up the north and south offensive areas airspace as they will have no cover in that area.
Your task is destroy the Flap Lid, Spoon Rest and missile launchers of this target and return to base.
It is recommended that the first element should be armed with AGM-88 HARMS and the second element with other ground munitions for mopping up the remainder of the battalion.
Fig. 1 - Package Flight Plan and Overall Theatre
The above image shows the package's flight plan as well as the southern war zone. You will see numerous Bogey contacts, which are likely to be a mix of MiG 29S, MiG 31 and SU-33 fighters. You will also note the SA-10 battalions that have moved south making the defences down there even more formidable than they previously were.
Fig. 2 - Package Flight Plan
The flight plan shows your route over the target area. Both flights have the same steerpoints. SPs 4 and 5 are the escorts' CAP area with SP being the rally point for the SEAD. The SEAD flight MUST obey the Escort leads instructions. We have lost an aircraft recently due to this.
Panther 2 is tasked with destroying the battalion with Gamble 6 as escort. Serpent 4 shall destroy the depot.
Fig. 3 - Mission Briefing for Package 3089
Your loadout is at flight leads discretion.
Mission Success Criteria Package success will be the destruction of the Flap Lid and Spoon Rest. A maximum of one loss to the package is permitted.
Partial Success shall be awarded for the destruction of the Flap Lid only. A maximum of two losses is permitted.
Good Hunting.

After take off we orbited west then north to gain some altitude prior to heading to the CAP. Unfortunately Panther was airborne quicker than expected so we had to turn to the CAP area while still at around FL200.
I asked Panther to shackle in order to allow us to over take them, but no sooner had I done that when '30' and '31' spikes on the RWR came up. The FCR had these within 40-50 miles. I instructed Panther to turn north immediately while we tried to sort on the bandits.
That's when it all fell apart. It was a confusing picture with one group merged with friendlies and another coming in fast from the south. These latter were MiG 31s. Jules and I engaged these targets but I didn't fire on the correct one. Jules' target was destroyed but we had got too close and we were both destroyed by R-73s. Vosene last a bit longer but was chase by an SA-35 (the '30' spike) and down he went.
FUBAR. I should have disengaged much earlier than I did to give us another chance of an attack. However I think the enemy had the advantage of position, direction and speed and I'm not sure it would have helped us much.

Plan was a 15NM pop-up HARM attack on the target Flap Lid and Big Bird, from different azimuth and simultaneous.
Unfortunately, it went all tits up shortly after take off. We tracked N to get some spacing from the incoming bandits, but most of the escort flight went down so we turned in to support. #1 focused on what I thought was the closest, but another Su-35 was in the way and show me down within 3NM. #2 and #3 pumped towards the patriot WEZ. Once the bandits dealt with the escort, they chased #2 and #3. #2 was shot and #3 was managed to stay alive, even got a kill.
