Our forces have been enjoying the fact that the enemy's air force is grounded due to the destruction of the aircraft carrier and the air base runways. Intelligence has informed us that repairs are under way at Gimhae, home to a number of high value air threats. One runway needs only one section repairing to become active again.

Your task is to attack the air base, paying particular attention to the runway thresholds. Advance aircraft are to search for and destroy ground troops in and around the air base that may be a threat to the OCA.

The mission flight plan below, shows your route, which shall take you north of the city and give you a run in from the NNW to runways 16 L and R.

Fig. 1 - Package Flight Paths

The weather is expected to be fair with broken clouds throughout the southern part of the country, including home plate.

Fig. 2 - Briefing for Package 2078

Mission Success shall be awarded for the successfully striking the air base, including the thresholds, and air base protection. The loss of any aircraft will result in a PS.

Uneventful takeoff. Climbed to Angel 23. Target area declared clear by Satan3-1. Target runway sections attacked with GBU 31 AP bombs - all 4 bombs hit and all target sections destroyed. Egress to the South and Stp 6. BDA - at least 2 hits confirmed by TGP observation. Declared RTB as Satan3 did not need support. Overhead approach on RNWY 04L - break left from echelon right. Safe landing.

Flight Role: DEAD

Satan31: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=7 RTB
Satan32: "Noodle" AA=0 AG=13 RTB

MS

Our aim was to clear the area around the target air base of air defences, me looking to the south side of the AB and Noodle the north. As it turned out, there were only two vehicles at the AB and Noodle dispatched them on the first pass.

Noodle spotted the remnants of a SA-10 battalion moving south of the air base so I attacked them. I destroyed the Big Bird and four launchers with my GBU-54s.

Noodle spotted a AAA battalion to the north which he did some considerable damage to, including the destruction of the Fire Can.

That left the door open for Jackal to come in and complete the task on the runways.

No more enemy aircraft from that air base for a while.

Our A-10s came in and hit the other troops to the west and significantly weakened the enemy defences. Maybe our troops will push in now.
