The last mission to DEAD the FCRs of the enemy's air defences was extremely successful. There is still another layer of defences to neuter as we continue to makes the skies clear for our comrades to control the air space.

In addition to this, Command want the MiG29S threat to be removed as well.

To this end, your next task is to destroy the runways at Sunan air base, the home of said MiG29S squadrons.

The image below shows the route of the package, including the suggested CAP area for the escort flights.

Fig. 1 - Package Flight Paths

This next image shows the extent of the SA-2 and SA-3 coverage in the area that still have their respect Fan-Songs and Low Blows respectively.

The element of Weasel 3 will be responsible for clearing the FCRs using SDBs, in order to clear the way for the lead element to destroy the runways.

Fig. 2 - Focus on the Target Area

While this action is under way, it is expected that enemy aircraft will be scrambled to intercept you. Mudhen 1 (F-16s) and Ramrod 6 (F-15s) shall be responsible for keeping these aircraft at bay while Weasel 4 completes it's task.

Fig. 3 - Briefing for Package 2190

The weather is clear and sunny for the duration of the mission with winds from around 250° at 11 knots at home plate, so you'll have a little crosswind to contend with.

Mission Success shall be awarded for the successfully destroying the runway without any loss of aircraft. The loss of up to one aircraft is permitted for a PS.

Good hunting.

Flight Role: Oca Strike

Weasel32: "Jules" AA=1 AG=0 RTB

MF

Loaded with GBU-31 AP bombs, we took off and followed Mudhen towards the target. The F-15s that were supposed to lead the way, were overtaken while they orbited at a push point and so were little use in the initial stages.

We climbed to FL260 and diverted north from SP4 to 6 in line with Mudhen. Mudhen were very busy and running out of spears as we approached the target area but we pushed on. They informed us that they had lost on of the SEAD element. We pushed on.

the situation was getting bad and the last throw of the dice was to go spread and try to get to the target. This was thwarted by SA-2 launches and the taking off of more MiG29 to attack us.

The mission was aborted.

The remaining aircraft regrouped as a package and RTB'd.

Jules was an excellent wingman and my SA with him was sound all the way through the flight. He even bagged and MiG on the way home sa well.

In hindsight, I should have aborted the mission earlier as I knew that there were still too many SA-2s to get past to prosecute our attack.
