Taegu needs to be recaptured as soon as possible. SAM coverage around Teagu is heavy: SA-10 and SA-17 are the highest known threats, but SA-2, SA-5 and SA-8 are also present. Red air presence was minimal during the last mission, it should change rapidly. Our flight path has minimal Patriot cover.
Mission
SEAD flights to destroy both SA-10 Flap Lid radars at ppt 69 (COBRA6) and ppt65 (WARHAWK7)
Escort flights to sanitize 40NM box around target area, and provide air cover for package.

@Griffin, can you please update the scores? - Done
The plan was to have 3ship loaded with HARMS take out both flap lid radars at PPT65 and 69 during a simultaneous attack. The remaining 2ship would have SDBs to clear out as much as possible from the SA-10 battalions.
During the ingress, our escort flights were busy with Mig-29S and Su-35 while we took some distance from the threat towards Patriot cover. Once the threat was dealt with, it looked like our window of opportunity for the attack as picture was clear. #3 #4 and #5 were cleared to go NOE for attack, #1 and #2 keeping an eye on the picture on the edge of the SA-10 WEZ. A couple of Mig-31 tried to intercept during the attack, which spread the flight across but the escort dealt with them. The escort now was pretty much RTB, the attack resumed and soon 6 HARMS were in the air with 4 of them impacting the 2 designated targets. HARMS from #5 both hit the terrain. #1 and #2 started moving in to confirm SA-10 was no longer a threat, and to start the next phase of the attack. As we were about 30NM from target, another couple of Mig-31 set to intercept us popped up at 50NM, and we committed to the threat. #1 ended up notching too close to the threat and was hit, #2 managed to get to safe distance and engaged the threat with the support of #3. Once the bandits were down, #2 resumed the attack on the SA-10 at PPT65 and killed several launchers.
With the SA-10 flap lid radars down at PPT69 and PPT65 (and assuming we continue hitting those targets on a regular basis to wipe them out), we can now focus on the SA-17 NE of Taegu as well as accomplishing air superiority. |
