While our efforts to take out Sunan have reaped partial rewards with one runway removed from operation, more southerly air bases have been brought back into operation. This has added another barrier to our air forces and must be removed before continuing our push on more northern assets.
Fig. 1 - Rolling Fire 11 Flight Plan.
Our plan is to execute a quick and effective strike on two of the more prominent southerly air bases, namely Taetan and Haeju
MiG-23 and MiG-21s operate from those bases but MiG-29As have been using them as recovery bases. One was seen landing at Haeju on our last mission.
As well as the aforementioned air threats there are some notable ground units to consider. Haeju is undefended and should not cause the OCA any issues. Taetan has infantry units in the city with SA-7, SA-14 and small arms. Care should be taken. The planned approach and route will keep them clear of most, if not all threats.
The package consists of three flights, totalling ten aircraft; details below.
Fig. 2 - Package 3362 OCA Strike Details.
Mission Success Criteria Package success will be awarded for putting both bases out of action with only one loss from air/radar SAM threats. A partial shall be awarded if only Haeju is made inoperative, again with a max of one loss to air/radar SAM threats.
Good hunting.

Flight Role: OCA Strike Mustang61: Pegasus AA=1 AG=1 RTB Mustang62: Gekko AA=0 AG=0 RTB Mustang63: Griffin AA=0 AG=1 RTB Mustang64: Jules AA=0 AG=0 KIA
MS - both airbases out of action
A fairly uneventful ingress. Mustang6 split into elements at STPT4 with lead heading to Taetan and 2nd element heading to Haeju.
Lead element was spiked by Mig29s to their 9 o'clock just after STPT4. 2nd element of escort went to intercept and the threat never progressed.
Lead element launched SDBs at max range, with Gekko having problems with hung stores and only getting a few away. Pegasus managed to destroy an IL-76 at the end of the landing roll with the first 2 SDBs to arrive.
Meanwhile, strike second element had a bit more trouble with low level attack on Haeju. STPT was not properly over the runway and in the dark, they found it hard to spot the target. Griffin got all Durandals away on second pass, destroying the runway, but Jules lost SA and put a Viper shaped hole in the neighbourhood.
Escort did a great job of intercepting any threats detected by the strike flight, engaging primary threats well before they could threaten the strike flight, and Pixy in particular saved Pegasus with a well timed interception of a Mig29A. Noodle also took out a Mig21 which appeared and threatened Gekko at our rally point.
