The squadrons of MiG-29As are being worthy adversaries but must be neutralise. Command now know that both of the air bases have only seven aircraft left at each site. Sunan still only has protect from a single SA-2 as well as AAA and manpads.

Your specific mission is to attack and destroy the north/south runway at Sunan International Airport and one runway at Sochon.

Fig. 1 - Sunan International Airport and it's Offset Runways.

The aforementioned static SAM sites cover the strike flight's (Banshee 1) targets We want Banshee to launch from distance to kill the runways. Even damaging them will take them out of action. Beast 2 and Falcon 1 shall be responsible for keeping air threats off the Banshee's backs.

Fig. 2 - Package Flight Path and SAM Threats.

The package consists of three flights, totalling eight aircraft; details below.

Fig. 3 - Package 3588 OCA Strike Details.

Mission Success Criteria
Package success will be awarded for putting one runway at each base (it must be the northern one at Sunan) out of action with only one loss from air/radar SAM threats. A partial shall be awarded if the northern runway is made inoperative, again with a max of one loss to air/radar SAM threats.

Good hunting.

This was a busy one.

First encounter was MiG-29As from the NE. I gave the shot to No2 but the target turned cold. I told him to return but he fired. The acmi showed his missile deciding to chase a friendly. Luckily no Blue-on-Blue occurred.

We spotted more target to the N so I sent 3 and 4 after them. These were MiG-21s and were dispatched.

Pushing on we had more targets to contend with but we left those as they appeared to be interested in something else and I was conscious of not getting dragged off mission. We got to the CAP SP at A30 and immediately picked up "30" RWR spikes. We turned to engage and were dragged much too far north and eventually turned south when a Long Track came up on RWR. Unfortunately we had attracted those "30"s and were troubled by them. We lost No2 to them when he was jumped on by three of them.

Banshee 1 gave the call that they had completed their strike and we turned for home. Very soon the sky appeared to be full of MiGs to the east, south and north. we fought our way to Patriot and Hawk cover, losing 4 to MiG 29s that beamed him.

Fuel was very low but two of us got back to fight another day.

Flight Role: Escort

FALCON11: "Noodle" AA=2 AG=0 RTB
FALCON12: "Pixy" AA=2 AG=0 EJT

PS

Plan was to ingress behind 1st escort and provide support on initial attack. Also to provide close escort to strike flight.

Strike called spike 29 as 1st escort was getting close to IP.
We had to turn to investigate, but this is possibly what ruined the initial plan.
A singleton Mig-29 was heading back home and was dealt with a fox-2. Unfortunately as #2 checked for any trail, we got the attention of another 2 groups of Mig-29s further E.
#1 fox-3 twice but both bandits dragged. #2 turned back hot and quickly picked up a bandit that switched its attention to the strikers instead of us, fox-3 and splashed.
Meanwhile #1 picked up Mig-21s coming from the SE and getting dangerously close. Fox-3 but it seems to have gone stupid looking at the acmi.
Strike flight now egressing were ambushed by more 21s scrambling from Taetan AB.
#1 was now trying to delouse the 1st escort on their way back. #2 also got ambushed by 2 Mig-21s, he managed to get another kill but was shot down.

Soon after, I received a call from work and thought this was going to be handled quickly, so I managed to rejoin for a short while, realising I was down to 700lbs of fuel.
Then another work call and I had to jump out for good, apologies.

Flight Role: OCA

Banshee 1-1 Gekko AA=3 AG=1 RTB
Banshee 1-2 Jules AA=0 AG=0 KIA

Take off after Escort packages (Beast 2 and Falcon 1). Waited until red air threat was cleared or chased away. After given the signal to engage, turned N and both 1 and 2 dropped SDBs.
Unfortunately most of them missed the target runways though the launch was well within range.
Egressed and gave the the signal of delouse but not the correct command was used - it was confusing for the Escort flights, sorry. Next time I will call "Miller Time".
Soon we were engaged by red aircrafts, Mig 21s took off from Taetan and maybe Ongjin too, cutting us off from the way home, while Beast 2 was fighting with the Su30s and more Mig29s coming from NE.
2 was shot unfortunately, 1 managed to kill 3 Mig21s and tried to help Falcon 1 though down to guns only.
Eventually ran back to Patriot cover and RTB. Fuel was enough for safe landing.
