Good work was done on the last mission with 41 confirmed kills and countless damaged armour. This mission is continue with the effort.
NW of Yeoncheon City a considerable number of enemy units are approaching the outskirts. It appears that their aim is to capture Yeoncheon City.
Your task is to stop them in their tracks by inflicting as much damage as possible.

Air threats are a serious issue in this area. Squadrons of MiG-29A, MiG-23, MiG-21 and J-6 are active in the area supporting their own ground troops. The last three were seen and successfully dealt with last time. The MiG-29's are yet to show up...
Note our friendly units south of the city and outside the kill box. Great care MUST be taken to ensure no Blue-on-Blue ground kills

The package consists of two flights totalling eight aircraft, details below.
Fig. 3 - Package 3258 AI Details.
Mission Success Criteria Package success as last time, will be awarded for destroying an average of four ground units per aircraft with only one loss from air/radar SAM threats. A partial shall be awarded if only an average of three ground units are destroyed per aircraft, again with a max of one loss to air/radar SAM threats.
Good hunting.

Unfortunately this mission could not take place as the mission/campaign files were FUBAR. All attending pilots were awarded TECH points for turning up. Thank you for your patience while we tried to get it to work.
I suspect that the mission files from the end of Rolling Fire 13 may have been at fault; I don't know. I have used the end of mission 12 and rolled the clock forward to what it would have been for mission 14 and created a new mission, albeit in the same area and for the same numbers.

We were greedy and replaced our wing tanks with CBU-87s to compliment the GBU-54s. Not recommended.
Ingress was good but we had to orbit at the hold point while Mustang cleared the skies for us.
Lead element pushed north to search for targets while the other element searched within the kill box. We had mixed results because of clouds messing with the lasers and also running low on fuel. The latter had us rushing our attacks and some of the results reflect this.
RTB was uneventful and we landed with an overhead break (apart from No4 who was on fumes).

Took off first to clear the skies over and around target area for Cajun 5. Set up CAP as planned NW-SE direction, separating the flight by Mustang 63 flying alone, one element being always hot. Red activity mainly from the North and West. 2 MiG 23s attacked from North, got close but had only R23 missiles and were shot down by 1 and 2. Remmaining MiG21s were cold and no factor. Target deconflicting between 1 and 2 was good. When area was safe signaled Cajun 5 and patrolled the area while they attacked the ground units in the kill box. 2 J-5s were killed by 1 and 2. Rest uneventful. RTB when Cajun 5 was ready covering their 6. Flight separated during descent, but eventually all of us landed after overhead appraoch. Good mission, thanks Griffin. Thank you Mango and Jules to make me enjoy the lead. |
