As we got airborne AWACS was reporting threat from the NE, J-7 CAP. #3 and #4 checked out but no factor, plus engaged by friendly SA-2.
The flight rejoined and proceeded to CAP area with a clear picture.
As we got to around 50NM from Kwail AB, multiple J-11 were launched to intercept us. SA-17 was tracking us most of the time, but not launching. SEAD flight was asked to hold.
J-11 kept coming and trying to flow east, we still managed to hold our CAP, re-organising elements positions to meet demand.
Getting low on fuel for some, weapons for others, SEAD flight was called in to silence the SA-17.
Unfortunately, 2 J-8s got too close and even if they got dispatched pretty quick, one of them managed to fire a PL-8 at Fisty.
Not sure if this was meant for myself or Fisty, but as I was head on to the bandit and Fisty had him at his 3 o'clock, the missile tracked Fisty.
The bandit was shot down 5secs after he had fired his PL-8, as I already had a fox-3 in the air for him before he even fired.
#2 and #4 were now RTB, #1 and #3 continued CAP as more SA-11 were getting airborne.
After a few more legs, we called RTB.

Flight Role: DEAD
Warhawk71: Pegasus AA=0 AG=5 RTB
Warhawk72: Fisty AA=1 AG=1 KIA
Warhawk73: Gekko AA=0 AG=6 RTB

MS

On ingress, as the Escort flight dealt with J-11s we held at safe distance.

Due to the SA-17 giving Escort a lot of anxiety, we were called in and engaged.

Fisty got one SA-17 with his HARM, and Pegasus got another 2 with SDBs. There is probably another SA-17 still alive.

Gekko got several associated targets including an SA-13.

Due to being in very close proximity to the Escort flight, Fisty caught a heater from a J-8 which might have been intended for Noodle.

Lesson learned is to try and have at least a little separation between the two flights.
