Regardless of the good work by the 185th to support the OCA attack by another squadron, those other squadron pilots failed to get the job done on Kwail. To that end Command has decided that you are the ones to get it done. There remain SA-8, 13 and 15 battalions marked on your briefing map but as a reminder the SA-11 and 17 threats are down, as is the threat from the SE SA-4. The SAMs should not be a factor if pilots stay away from them, particularly the SA-15 and SA-8.

The culmination of the your efforts will be the sanitisation of Kwail air base runway and the serious air threats it possesses.

Fig. 1 - Kwail AB and it's Single Runway 32/14

The above image shows the primary target. Much of the remainder of the base has been destroyed or damaged but the runway remains stubbornly intact. It is your task to destroy it.

It is protected by a couple of SHORAD/SA-13 battalions and these must be destroyed to give the OCA flight as safe a route through to the target as possible.

We already know that the air base is quick to respond to intruders so the escort must also ensure the safety of the OCA flight.

Fig. 2 & 3 - Flight Plan for Package Showing Remaining SAM threats

The flight plan shows your route to the target area.

Cajun 6 will provide escort while Jaguar 4 will be tasked with destroying as much of the SHORAD battalions as possible. Mustang 4 shall be responsible for destroying the runway.

Fig. 3 - Mission Briefing for Package 2556

Your loadout is at flight leads discretion.

Mission Success Criteria
Package success will be the destruction of the runway. A maximum of one loss to the package is permitted.

Partial Success shall be awarded for the destruction of the runway. A maximum of two losses is permitted.

Good Hunting.

MS

Plan was to drop GBU-31s from high altitude on 4 different sections of the runway.
Unfortunately, MOHAWK1 - 4 x F-15E were just 15NM ahead of us and annihilated the airbase.
We still dropped our bombs on the runway, #1 saw a shack on TGP just before releasing, so went dry.
As there were no impact on TGP (bms bug?), recommitted and dropped on the second pass. The impact showed minutes later on the TGP..
#2 dropped his bombs on the first pass.

Uneventful egress, combat descent and tight OHB.
