The last package fought well to take out an air base. This mission will build on that by attacking Sayqal Air Base. It is home to two airlift quadrons as well as a squadron of MiG-21s and one of MiG-25s. Destroying both runways will seriously hamper the enemy's supply efforts as well as taking one of the more lethal air threats out.

Your primary task is to attack both runways at the air base and render them unsusable.

Fig 1 - Overall flight plans over enemy territory

A secondary flight, Cyborg 4 is tasked with striking the local army base at Sayqal (indicated No 1 in Fig 2). If munitions remain then the army base at Snayid (indicated No2 in Fig 2) should be attacked.
If Bulldog requires extra help then Cyborg are to drop their bombs and take an escort role. In this case the MS and PS for Cyborg will be that of Bulldogs

Fig 2 - Close-up of Strike Zones

Package 1317
Beast 2 - 2 x F-16A-15 IAF - OCA Strike, Tcn 11/74
Bulldog 1 - 4 x F-16A-15 IAF - Escort, Tcn 12/75
Cyborg 4 - 2 x F-16A-15 IAF - AI, Tcn 13/76

Mission success will be awarded to Beast 2 for putting both runways out of action. Partial success will be given for one runway destroyed.

Mission Success for Bulldog 1 will be for the OCA to make it to the target without loss and a Partial will be given if one of Beast 2 is lost before making it's attack.

Mission success for Cyborg will be the complete destruction of the depot complex and Radar EW station at Sayqal, with a partial success awarded for destroying the depot complex.

Good Hunting.

Uneventful take off and drop to low level at the FLOT. Kudos to Noodle for staying with me in the dark. En route I encroached into an army base's AAA and was shot down. Noodle went on to attack the target but visibility was very poor and only one Mk-84 AIR hit the runway, but it was enough to put the base out of action. Without engineers it should stay OOA for quite a while.

Took off, during ingress, vectored by human AWACS to hostiles to SE. After monitoring for some time we turned back onto track but they turned back hot towards us so we committed. Getting hostile confirmation from human AWACS but AI AWACS calling friendly. #1 committed on lead, fired at 2.5nm, no VID due to being so dark even with NVG. Bandit was damaged, second heater shot it down. Now virtually on top of it, #1 VID the target as a Mirage F-1 and realized it was a neutral Jordanian aircraft, terminating the engagement.

Key learning point was human AWACS tool identifies neutral aircraft in Red. Luckily the Jordanians were very understanding and #1 didn’t get a court martial. An international incident was avoided by rescuing the downed pilot and getting Kylie Minogue to provide a free concert at their airbase.

Rest of Escort mission was a milk run, with no air threats. Is this even the same Theatre where we were being chased by 8 MiG-25 a couple of sorties ago?

Some connection issues for #1 during straight in landing caused warping issues but both aircraft landed successfully.

Looking forward to dawn because very limited night fighter capabilities even with NVG.
