A squadron of MiG-29As have been located north of Pyongyang. Command want it grounded. Their airbase is protected by SA-2 and 3 battalions as well as AAA.

Your specific mission is to attack and destroy the two runways at Sunan International Airport.

Fig. 1 - Sunan International Airport and it's Offset Runways.

The aforementioned static SAM sites cover the strike flight's (Beast 8) targets and should be neutralised by Panther 6 to allow them to complete their task relatively safely.

Fig. 2 - Known SAM coverage of Target Area.

Fig. 3 - Package Flight Plan.

The package consists of two flights, totalling eight aircraft; details below.

Fig. 4 - Package 3984 OCA Strike Details.

Mission Success Criteria
Package success will be awarded for putting both of the runways out of action with only one loss from air/radar SAM threats. A partial shall be awarded if the northern runway is made inoperative, again with a max of one loss to air/radar SAM threats.

Good hunting.

We climbed to FL240 and headed toward our SP4 when Panther told us to hold as the target AB had scrambled MiG-29s, as had another AB to it's NE. Panther instructed us to hold and we did so in trail.

Panther assessed the situation and rightly aborted the mission.

As we turned for home we had a call to delouse Panther's element. We dropped our bombs and tanks and turned to ehlp. Pixy took two targets and Gekko one. We lost Gekko to a chasing MiG, but we cleared the said element and returned home.

Flight Role: SEAD Escort

Panther 61: "Pegasus" AA=2 AG=10 RTB
Panther 62: "Mango" AA=0 AG=2 KIA
Panther 63: "Noodle" AA=2 AG=0 RTB
Panther 64: "Vosene" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
MF

Uneventful ingress to the target area.

Pegasus launched an SDB at an SA-2 Fan Song at max range, which took ages to arrive.

While waiting for that target to go down, Mango launched SDBs at a couple of SA3 Low Blow radars.

The time taken waiting for these SAM radars to go down, and us loitering where we were, probably prompted our target airbase (and another a bit further NE) to start launching intercept flights of Mig-29As.

Beast 8 was instructed to hold at distance while we dealt with the scramblers, but it soon became apparent that there were more flights scrambling and we had lost the element of surprise.

We engaged the Mig29s and called mission abort.

One of the Mig29s managed to leak through and Noodle and Vosene were merged. Pegasus was now winchester and Mango had lost SA and hit the ground. Beast 8 was called in to delouse and did so very effectively.

We had a window now to RTB and took it.

Due to low fuel, the remainder of Panther 6 chose to divert, and encountered enemy AAA, and tower blocks on approach to the divert airbase. In the end we all got down safely.
